Melanie Jayne Lynskey

Melanie Jayne Lynskey was born on May 16, 1977, in New Zealand. She is known for her unique role, with a soft voice and a strong personality. She primarily works in independent films. Her accolades include her winning a New Zealand Film Award, an Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, and Gotham Award, Golden Nymph Award, Critics' Choice Award, and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Lynskey was a teenage murderess who made her debut in a film in Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). After making the move to the United States, Lynskey built a career as a supporting actor in a number of smaller and large-budget movies including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But... (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000) and Sweet Home Alabama (both 2002) Shattered glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006) and Away We Go!, Up in the Air!, Leaves of Grass (2009), Win Win (2011), Seeking a Wallflower (both 2014) Then They Came Together (2014) and Don't look up (2021). Lynskey received a nomination for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and received critical acclaim for her performance as an unhappy divorcee in The Goodbye I Must be Going (2012). It was an important moment in her professional career. Her subsequent lead roles included Happy Christmas, We'll Never Have Paris Goodbye to All That (all 2014), The Intervention, Rainbow Time, Little Boxes (all 2016) I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore, And Then I Go (both 2017), Sadie (2018) and Lady of the Manor (2021) have made her a prominent figure in the American independent film community. Outside of the film industry, Lynskey achieved fame with her role as Rose in the CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men (2003-2015). She was the central character of Togetherness between 2015 and 2016, where she was nominated by the Critics' Choice Television Awards for the award for Best Supporting Actress. Megan and Beatrice on the Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014) were their voices. (2016-2018). She also starred as the main character of Molly Strand, the first season on Hulu's Castle Rock (2018). Rosemary Thomson starred in Mrs. America on FX (2020).
