Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and a presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid actress in American television from 2013 until 2020.Vergara was a star when she began hosting two TV shows for Spanish-speaking television network Univision in the mid-90s. Her first notable acting job in English was in the movie Chasing Papi (2003). She subsequently appeared in Four Brothers (2005) and Tyler Perry's comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009), receiving an ALMA Award nomination for the latter. She first played Gloria Delgado–Pritchett in ABC's comedy show Modern Family, for which she was nominated four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards and eleven Screen Actor Guild Awards. Also, she voiced roles in the animated films Happy Feet Two (2011), Escape from Planet Earth (2013) as well as The Emoji Movie (2017). By her five siblings, and numerous cousins, she was referred to as "Toti". Vergara was an undergraduate at the National University of Colombia in dentistry. She left after two years to pursue modeling opportunities and show business.
