Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family relocated to the United States when she was only three years old. Summer was educated in American as well as British schools, while her family moved abroad. She returned home to Pasadena, California just shy of her fourteenth birthday. Enticed by the thought of becoming an actress from the age of five, Summer took her first acting class when she was 14 years old. Nine months later, she enlisted an agent/manager and began her full-time profession. When she isn't working,, she attends college and is striving to complete her degree. She was among the young stars featured in Vanity Fair’s August 2008 cover story, "Hollywood’s New Wave: Hollywood's Most Hot Kids in Hollywood". Bishil began taking acting lessons when she was 14. Within one year she signed a contract with an agent and manager. Bishil began her career with the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. After that she was signed an agreement with a manager and an agency. Her breakthrough role was in Alan Ball's 2007 film Towelhead. It's an adaptation of the book of the same title. Dana Stevens, a Slate critic, claimed that "Her performance in a movie that , despite its noble intentions seems completely fake, mildly embarrassing, and as if it were an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching, is the most truthful thing." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is the best natural film actresses of all time. In a September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil who is an unproven "...newcomer who is a newcomer, delivers a riveting and gutsy performance in the role of Jasira. In 2009, she filmed Wayne Kramer’s Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her performance. The film was a part she was cast to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's film The Last Airbender, and was planned to be the focus of the unproduced but planned sequel.
